Chile’s 2025 New Import Policy: Key Highlights and Impacts On  July 4, 2025 , Chile officially included textiles in its  Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Law (Ley REP) , through Resolution №3914/2025 issued by the Ministry of Environment. This move marks a historic turning point: for the first time, clothing and textiles are treated as a “priority product,” requiring producers and importers to take responsibility not only for placing goods on the market but also for what happens at the end of their lifecycle. Under the new regulation: Mandatory registration : All companies producing or importing clothing must register with the RETC (Registro de Emisiones y Transferencias de Contaminantes). Annual reporting : Firms must declare the quantity of textiles they place on the Chilean market each year. The first reporting period, covering 2024, will close on  September 15, 2025 .
